Most of the children attending the after school program at “Anmol” school are eager and extremely enthusiastic to enhance their skills and have great ambitions to become successful students beyond their high school. “Anmol” is indeed an appropriate name for the goals of this non-profit organization whose merits are beyond any value.
Many of the girls and boys are very interested in Math, and when questioned why, they answered that in order to become a pilot; one must be good in math. This was a surprising answer and almost uniform amongst all who wanted to become pilots, both boys and girls.

The picture above was taken in March 2015, and although 7 children had not showed up that particular day, it is clear that their enthusiasm for learning and doing well in their school is important to them. Many of them come from neighboring towns that takes 10-15 min by walk. They spend about 2 hours every day either catching up on their homework or doing some projects that they would like to do at a personal level.
They enjoy some snack provided by the after school at the end of their activities. To make learning more interesting and hands-on, the head teachers who run the school, all entirely on voluntary basis, take them to Science Fairs, Zoos and other local areas that provide a source of inspiration and practical experience that augment their theoretical support that they get from their schools as well as the extra help most crucial to their success from “Anmol”
Although, the primary goal is to encourage more girls, the school does not discriminate against boys who would like to participate and take advantage of this rare opportunity provided to them in this remote area of Kangra District. Indu, Priya, Kamana, Suhani, Neha, Krithika, Chandini, Rajat, Sivam, Shaswat, Harish, Himanshu, Abhishek, Aman, Priyanka and Muskan are just some of the students that attend the school.
Below are some images of the students who are currently using outdoor space to meet and do their activities. The hope is to quickly find a permanent place that will be dedicated to the students. The after school programs that will provide them with more advanced tools and computer technologies to narrow the divide between students who are privileged and those that are at a great disadvantage such as the ones who attend “Anmol”
